When you're at sea, you're fairly much on your own.
There's nobody there,
so you have to be able to maintain and to problem solve,
and fix your own equipment and machinery,
and to keep the level of service onboard
for a good 20 to 30 years.
Genuine spare parts have the advantage
that they're specifically made for the machine you're using.
The material is very important.
You need high quality materials,
because they are in a very demanding environment.
And that environment is harsh,
and if you use inferior products,
then they'll work, but only for a short amount of time,
and then your breakdown maintenance is probably not cost effective,
because you end up with more downtime,
and you end up spending more time on your parts and labor,
because you have to replace things multiple times
over the same service period.
Genuine spare parts give you that confidence
that you know that it's going to work correctly,
when you need it, and for as long as you need it.
